Mission Statement

“The FAMB Foundation desires to make a positive difference to consumers and mortgage professionals alike by enhancing their education and homeownership experience while helping fulfill the American Dream.”

The FAMB Foundation was established in 1999 for the purpose of providing charitable donations, funding education for the mortgage professional and educating consumers throughout the State of Florida.

Today, the Foundation concentrates on funding consumer and professional education.  Working in conjunction with the FAMB School, the Foundation oversees the FAMB Faculty and maintains the course curriculum.

CONSUMER AWARENESS:
FAMB offers consumer education throughout the year.  The Foundation participates in home shows and mortgage expos; providing consumers with mortgage information and promoting the use of a FAMB member.  In 2007, the Foundation participated in the H.O.P.E. expo in Tampa and the HUD expo in Orlando.

MEMBER SERVICES:
We provide opportunities for our members to education consumers.  The Foundation consumer course  Demystifying the Mortgage Process is available
online in the member library section of our web. This members’ only service is a PowerPoint presentation with notes for the instructor to follow.  The presentation educates the consumer on the mortgage process from date of application through closing.   A Spanish version of the course is also available.  Contact FAMB headquarters or log onto www.famb.org as a member and download the course from the library.   Also included in the library is an in-depth outline covering how to set up consumer seminars.

The Credit Scoring Course is also available.  Any member who has completed FAMB’s four-hour credit scoring course may teach the one-hour NAMB consumer credit scoring course.  Request a copy of the PowerPoint and the narrative for teaching the course by e-mailing Frank Cicione, Executive Director - frank@famb.org

FREE CHAPTER CLASSROOM EDUCATION:
The Foundation funds free chapter classroom education to the Florida Association of Mortgage Brokers Professional, Originator and Affiliate members. These members pay only for the cost of materials. Supporter members receive a 50% discount.  Free classroom education is also funded through voluntary contributions to the FAMB Foundation and through an allocation of a portion of dues revenue received by FAMB.  A description of the FAMB School curriculum, faculty bios and the classroom education schedule are also linked to the Foundation page located at www.famb.org.  Our calendar section provides a monthly overview of classes offered by each chapter.

Thanks to our Foundation partners we were able to secure the funding required to allow the Foundation to grow. This funding enabled the Foundation to expand their instructor base, expand the course curriculum and improve the educational experience for all industry professionals. Our charter members and current partners are listed in this program book. We thank each and every contributor for their support.

HISTORY OF THE FOUNDATION:

Our charity program started with the First Home Fantasy Contest.  During 2000 the Foundation through its chapter affiliates placed five families in homes. Our First Home Fantasy Contest winners received funds through the Foundation for the down-payment on the purchase of their first-time residence. Donations from the Gulf Coast Chapter, Gold Coast Chapter (Now Broward), Palm Beaches Chapter, Southwest Chapter and Volusia Chapter helped make this program successful. Funds for third party costs were paid by the Foundation and through donations from those performing services.
